Bruins dethrone Knights

The Uxbridge Bruins were riding high after their Battle of North Durham win over Port Perry when they hit the road for Apsley on Saturday, Jan. 21 for a match-up with the North Kawartha Knights.

The Bruins lit the lamp early and often in the opening period, taking a 3-0 lead behind goals from Anthony Lamanna, Noah Button, and Cohen Mackie. The Knights got onto the scoreboard less than a minute into the second period before goals from Quinn Meek and Andrew Swan pushed Uxbridge’s lead to 5-1.

A buzzer-beater goal to end the second period and another early in the third for North Kawartha cut into the Bruins’ advantage. However, Alex Hyde replied for the visitors, and a pair of late goals from the Knights led to some tense moments down the stretch. A one-goal margin would be as close as North Kawartha would get though, as Noah Acciaccaferri earned his 10th win of the 2022-23 season in goal for Uxbridge.
