Bruins still undefeated vs Merchants

Looking to bounce back from a tough loss to league-leading Clarington the previous evening, the Bruins came into Friday night’s game against Little Britain at the Bear Den with great enthusiasm.
Almost 300 fans were in attendance for the latest chapter in one of the great rivalries in the Orr Division, and Uxbridge looking to maintain an undefeated record against the Merchants this season.
After a scoreless first period, Matthew Gordon’s shorthanded goal gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead less than a minute into the second period. Little Britain would tie the game shortly afterward, but goals from December’s Orr Division player of the month Anthony Lamanna, and Gordon’s second of the night pushed Uxbridge to a 3-1 lead. Another Little Britain goal late in the frame made the score 3-2 heading into the third period.
The third period saw great action at both ends of the ice, but the Merchants could not solve Kyle Groff in net for Uxbridge, as he turned aside 29 shots total in a winning effort. Nic Colangelo would add an insurance goal to put the finishing touches on a 4-2 Uxbridge win.

This week, the Bruins will host The Battle of North Durham against the Port Perry Lumberjacks at the Bear Den on Friday, Jan. 20. Game time is 7:45 p.m. The Bruins will then hit the road to Peterborough County for a pair of crucial Orr Division match-ups. On Saturday night, the Bruins are in Apsley to tangle with the North Kawartha Knights. The busy weekend wraps up for the Bruins on Tuesday, Jan. 24, with a trip to Lakefield and a tilt with the Chiefs.
