Bruins mourn the loss of former captain, Dave Duncan

With tremendous sadness and heartbreak, the Bruins organization is mourning the recent loss of our former captain, Dave Duncan.
A beloved teammate, son, brother, father, and more, ‘Dunc’ was a tremendous leader during the three seasons he spent with his hometown club after beginning his junior hockey career with the Little Britain Merchants. He led the Bruins to a Cougar Cup championship in 2004-05, his final year with the club, clinching the title at Scugog Arena in a triple overtime thriller over the MoJacks.
The Bruins extend their deepest condolences to everyone touched by this tragic loss.

Dave passed unexpectedly on Friday February 23, 2024 at the age of 40 and is now with his Heavenly Father. Devoted husband of Jennifer Duncan and proud father of Jay, Kate, Reese and Ruby. Loving son to John and Diane Duncan. Cherished brother to Charles Duncan, Paul Duncan (Laura) and Lori MacLean (Mathew), brother-in-law to Jesse McGuire (Janessa) and Tyler McGuire (Madeline). Adored grandson to Marion Heasman. David (Dunc/Captain) will always be remembered by his many nieces, nephews, family, teammates, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation at Low & Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge on Thursday February 29, 2024 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Low & Low Funeral Home on Friday March 1, 2024 at 1:00 PM. Private family burial to follow.

He had a great love for hockey, but above all was his love for his family and helping those in need. The Uxbridge Bonner Boys help local families in need by providing the opportunity for kids to play sports, a true testament to Dave’s heart. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Dave to the Uxbridge Bonner Boys. Cheques can be made to “The Bonner Boys Community Club,” e-transfers to bonnerboys26@gmail.com or cash can be accepted at Low & Low Funeral Home.
